October: National Domestic Violence Awareness Month

The Rhode Island Council of Muslim Advancement (RICMA) and Healthy Families Initiative (HFI) are honored to sponsor the following programs in observance of National Domestic Violence Awareness Month:

1- Understanding Domestic Violence:
A full-day training for Imams and Chaplains (brothers only) facilitated by nationally renowned Imam Mohamed Magid, President of the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA), and Salma Abugideiri LPC, Co-Director of the Peaceful Families Project (PFP).

The training, made possible by a grant from the US Department of Justice, is aimed at giving Imams and Chaplains an opportunity to discuss, in a private and confidential setting, effective strategies to respond to domestic violence situations within the Muslim community, and learn best practices to foster prevention.

Healthy Families Initiative cordially invites you to participate in this one-of-a-kind opportunity to gain additional knowledge on the dynamics of domestic violence within the Muslim community and the impact it has on Muslim families, and to learn effective tools for dealing with this challenging phenomenon.
