Domestic Violence 101

What is Domestic Violence? How does it affect men and women and children in heterosexual and same sex relationships? How does it impact children who witness domestic violence? Learn about the power and control in relationships, the cycle of violence, barriers to leaving and available community resources. Participants will also have the opportunity to practice responding to victims and de-bunk myths about the causes of domestic violence.
 
  
Protective Orders: Justice or Just a Piece of Paper

Protective orders are used to help protect individuals, mostly women, from partner violence.
But do we know the actual effectiveness of protective orders for the majority of women who seek them?
Walk through a set of three intensive studies that answer most of the concerns of victims, victim advocates and other professionals in the justice system. Finally, the most comprehensive examination of protective orders assessed using victim self reports, court data, and key informants from courts, law enforcement and advocacy.
