HFI joins hands with Brown University again!

In the Name of Allah, The All-Merciful, The Giver of Mercy
Seeking Knowledge and Justice
A Seminar for Muslims on Rhode Island Domestic Violence Laws
When? - Saturday, April 10th, 1:30pm-5pm [there will be a break with refreshments]

Where?
- Brown University, Smith-Buonanno G01

Who? - Any Muslim in Rhode Island

Why? - The Qur’an tells us to command the good and forbid the wrong (al-’amr bi’l-ma’ruf wa nahy ‘an al-munkar), and our ‘ulama (scholars) tell us that part of Islamic law (shari’a) is to obey the laws of the land in which we live. Therefore, it is important that we understand the laws relating to domestic violence in Rhode Island, both so that we can more effectively command the good, as well as be in greater obedience to our sacred teachings.

How? - This seminar is being sponsored by the Healthy Families Initiative (a project of RICMA), the Office of the Chaplains and Religious Life (Brown University), and the Rhode Island Coalition Against Domestic Violence (RICADV). The seminar will be taught by Lucy Rios, the Director of Prevention at RICADV.
